Intro to Website DEVelopment

This 8-week course is designed for 5th - 8th graders interested in the skills & practice of website development. with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. Web development is what's used to develop websites; most websites you see such as Facebook or Instagram used web development to be created and shared with the world. In this course, you will learn about web development and being able to create your own website with databases, frontend development (design of the website) and backend development (databases and conditions) using languages HTML & CSS. This class will not only increase your development & coding skills, but also increase the scope of projects you can personally take on, and expand your opportunities in the future.

Syllabus

Week 1

Learning what web development is
Starting to learn the basics of HTML and CSS

Week 2

Starting to learn some JavaScript and how we can use it as a frontend for a website to make it more responsive

Week 3

Coding our first website with HTML, CSS, and JavaScript

Week 4

Finishing our website and publishing it to the web

Week 5

Learning about backend development with python

Week 6

Learning how to use SQL as databases with web development as well as learning more about backends with python

Week 7

Working on a website with HTML CSS, Python, JavaScript, and SQL

Week 8

Publishing the website to share with the world and earning a certificate for finishing the course
